Red Sea Starter Kit
Reef Base

Reef Base

The ideal substrate for all saltwater fish and invertebrate tanks, Reef Base consists of naturally occurring reef sand spheres mixed with aragonite coral chips, and comes prewashed and impurity-free. The spheres, highly porous calcareous shells of simple protozoa (foraminefers), provide a large surface area for bacteria colonization and serve as an excellent media for both aerobic (nitrifying) and anaerobic (denitrifying) biological filtration. While the high buffering capacity of natural aragonite, the most dissolvable form of calcium carbonate, helps to maintain natural, stable levels of pH in the aquarium.

Coral Pro Salt

Coral Pro Salt

An innovative new salt formula designed to meet the needs of today’s advanced hobbyist, Coral Pro Salt contains the same natural minerals as those used in Red Sea Salt but is especially formulated for use with "mineral-free" reverse osmosis (RO) or soft tap water. Coral Pro contains elevated levels of calcium and buffer capacity to provide extended availability of these elements, essential for vibrant coral growth, without the need for supplementation.

chemically balanced formula to support corals and other delicate marine life
natural concentration of major, minor and trace elements
reaches a stable, natural pH shortly after mixing
free of nitrates and phosphates
produced by a small batch process to ensure homogeneity and consistency of salt mixture

Hydrometer

Hydrometer with built-in thermometer

Measuring the specific gravity, or degree of salinity, in your aquarium water is a basic and important task you will need to carry out on a regular basis in order to ensure the well-being of your livestock. Red Sea’s hydrometer provides an accurate measurement of specific gravity, while the built-in digital thermometer ensures that the water being tested is at correct temperature. The patented design enables device to be permanently installed inside aquarium for continuous, real-time reading of salinity, in addition to regular periodic reading, while the bubble-proof casing allows for easy reading of results.

Nitro Bac

NitroBac

A mixture of five strains of nitrifying bacteria that kick-starts the nitrification process within the aquarium, NitroBac reduces cycling time for new aquariums by 60 percent.

Calcium Pro

Calcium Pro

Calcium, an essential component in the building of coral skeletons, is constantly depleted from the aquarium and needs to be monitored on a regular basis.
Calcium Pro is an advanced calcium titration test that delivers accurate results down to 20 ppm.

Calcium Pro

Magnesium

Maintains balanced Calcium & Alkalinity levels

Magnesium plays an important role in the reef aquarium. In addition to its many biological functions, it serves to prevent the excessive precipitation of calcium and bicarbonate, which lowers the calcium level and causes a drop in alkalinity. Magnesium should be maintained at approximately 3 times the level of Calcium, measured in ppm

Success Buff

Success Coral Buff

Maintains a high buffer capacity & stable pH in reef aquariums

The pH of natural seawater remains stable due to its nearly inexhaustible stock of dissolved alkaline buffer substances such as bicarbonate, carbonate and borate.
In a reef aquarium, buffering substances are constantly consumed as part of the calcification process by corals, calcareous algae and other invertebrates and should be replenished on regular basis. A low alkalinity may allow a sudden fall in pH which would be very dangerous to all organisms in the aquarium.
For best result reef aquariums should have an alkalinity of 2.5 - 4 meq/L (7-11 dKH,) and a stable pH of 8.2 -8.4.

Success Calcium

Ion balanced Calcium for sustained Coral Growth

Calcium is one of the major ions in seawater, with a concentration of approximately 420 ppm. A stable high calcium level is required to promote calcification processes such as the growth of corals skeletons and invertebrates shells.. This element should be supplemented on a regular basis together with alkalinity supplement.
Success Calcium contains only natural components in a balanced composition, which will not disturb the anion balance of the sea water even after prolonged use.
Check the Calcium of your aquarium weekly with Red Sea’s Calcium Pro Test Lab.

Success Magnesium

Maintains balanced Calcium & Alkalinity levels

Magnesium plays an important role in the reef aquarium. In addition to its many biological functions especially in the skeleton building processes of invertebrates, it serves to prevent the excessive precipitation of calcium and bicarbonate, which lowers the calcium level and causes a drop in alkalinity. Magnesium should be maintained at approximately 3 times the level of Calcium, measured in ppm
Success Magnesium contains only natural components in a balanced composition that safely raise the Magnesium level without disturbing the anion balance of the seawater even after prolonged use.
